C-Ax Locking System
The locking system builds on the hybrid system by adding a locking up and down blade (locking UDB).
This system allows the surgeon to distract the disc space using the interbody spreader and then with the disc space opened at the desired distraction, a driver locks one of the two small grub screws and this then holds the vertebral bodies in distraction.
This completely avoids the need for the Caspar distractor. This provides a low profile system with minimal hard ware and thus provides a system that can not only retract but also maintain distraction without obstructing either the surgeon, the instruments or the light.
After completion of the decompression part of
the operation , the distraction is released to allow sizing of the graft or
cage under natural tension.
